News 27, January 20003

Well, as I recently announced on the mailing list, the time has come for me to step down from the position of webmaster of the RFFC. Yes, my time here serving as webmaster was very short-lived. I am sorry that I could not achieve what I wanted to do, but I just don't have the time to manage a website right now. With my studies pressuring me so, and not to mention a few other concerns, I feel that I simply cannot do the RFFC any good at all by being a dormant webmaster. Right now, we need action and updates, and there's just no time for me to work on them.

I have not made this decision lightly. I've looked at all my options, and there isn't much flexibility. This is what's best for the fanclub. All fans of our beloved Goddess Ryoko whether or not you are members of this fabulous fanclub, I apologize to you for not finishing what I started. Please keep this club going strong for many, many years to come. I am still a member now, and I will always be a member, and I want to look back upon this memory someday, smile, and say, "That's when things took a turn for the better." Someone will have to replace me, and I'm leaving this in the hands of the CB, Vice-CB, and owner of the site. I have faith in you three to choose an adept replacement. Thank you all for your time and patience with me. *bows* Farewell, everyone.

News 08, January 2003

Since it was never noted in the News section, I'd like to take a moment to thank Jeff Stetekluh for contributing valuable information which lead to the updating of our Petrea Burchard section back in the November of 2002. If you haven't had a chance to reread that section, you should take a few minutes to bring yourself up-to-date. Also, in this update, twenty new memberships have been added, as the backlog ever slowly dissipates. Also, there is a project to revitalize the look of the website in the works, and worry not, for I have not forgotten about the upcoming fanfiction contest. I think members will really enjoy this one. Well, that's pretty much it for this update. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year. Now, some of you will just have to work on burning off those holiday calories. ^_~ In all seriousness though, I hope everyone had a good time and stayed safe.

News 17, December 2002

Well, this is just a quick update to let you know that I have changed my e-mail address. You can now reach me at tsunamisknight@yahoo.com. This change was necessary so that I could better keep up with those e-mailing dealing with club issues. I fear I'm in the habit of deleting e-mails I'm not familiar with in Outlook Express, as I've had some bad experiences in the past. This way, it will be much easier for me to reply to those who wish to contact me. ^^ I do apologize if anyone felt they were ignored by me in the past . . . I may have deleted a few messages that I should not have. From now on, though, I shall be able to reply to everyone . . . hopefully in a prompt, timely manner.

News 15, December 2002

First of all, I must apologize to everyone for the extremely long delay in updating the website. This term in college has absorbed so much of my time. I've also begun working an extra day per week which cuts into my time as well. Also, this update was supposed to include another 100 memberships, but a system reset wiped out my work. Thus, there will be only 30 updates. The backlog is still being worked on, and those of you who have applied since I have become webmaster . . . I have your memberships. They have not been lost. There is no need to reapply. Once the backlog is cleared, they will be processed.

Now, I do have some news. I've been discussing some things with fellow staff members, and I will divulge a bit of information. We will be holding a new contest coming up. The details must still be smoothed out first, so stay tuned for updates on that. ^^ Also, an attempt will be made to restore the "No Need for a Fanclub" series of fictions written by our members. I have not had a chance to look into this matter further yet, but I will very soon.

Finally, I'd like to say that I apologize once again for the lack of updates. Part of the problem was that I was trying to make the updates too large, and I found that I wasn't able to find the time on my hands. However, I'm going to try to break it down into sections. I am thinking that I will try to do a weekly update of 25 - 50 memberships. This way, I can clear the backlog slowly, but steadily. I've always been one to dive in and try to conquer something all at once, and I find that such an approach is just not effective here. So, you should expect to see an update once a week. However, keep in mind that there's always something that can occur to delay it, but I'll try to be as punctual as possible. However, Chirstmas is coming up very shortly, and I probably won't do an update then, as I'll be spending some quality time with my friends and family. ^^

Just one last thing: I'd like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. The holidays are a wonderful time to spend with family and just enjoy living. Celebrate what you've all accomplished over this past year, and then worry about working off the calories you've consumed after the holidays are over. ^^ Remember though, the roadways can be a dangerous place during the holiday season, so please stay safe and be careful everyone.

News 27, September 2002

Hello everyone. This is Tsunami's Knight, your new webmaster. I apologize for the delay in updating the website, but there were a few issues that had to be resolved before I was able to begin working on the site. I had originally planned to clear the long membership backlog in one update, but it seems that multiple updates will be the best method.

Other changes aside from new members being added are: The vice CB's e-mail address has been updated, and you can now reach him at his new address. Links to the membership sign up page are now working once again.

News 12, September 2002

With time constraints, large projects and family issues to deal with piling up, I Joseph C. McKenzie no longer have the free time to conquer the mass of backlogged applications and updates for the site. So, after careful deliberation and a applicant process I ran several months earlier, Tsunami's Knight has been chosen by me as my permanent replacement. All forms are now redirected to his email and My information has been removed from the site. I will continue on as a regular member of the RFFC, but my webmastering is done. You can still find me at my own home site, listed in the membership section where I continue to work on the massive overhaul project that has contributed to my decision. I thank you all for putting up with my delays, and I appologize for all inconveiniences that have been caused.

Updated 14, February 2002

Jeff's done it again ... yay... another update -- I know we're slow... but we do have some more burchard information for you ^_^;;;;; ... where does all the time go.

Updated 08, November 2001

I've finally found a spare 5 minutes to do some housekeeping for our Goddess. Minor member updates for those who requested them and a new version of the "Who is Petrea Burchard?" page kindly composed by Jeff Stetekluh. Sorry everything is so slow it looks like its not moving, there are just not enough hours in the day! I'm sure the all new members will be added as soon as possible, for now have a look at Jeff's contribution and listen to the lady herself reading traffic reports of all thing ^_^.

Updated 25, July 2001

Even with the oncoming of Summer, schedules never seem to lighten. Even with the removal of school from the equation, the desperate search for work has been almost all consuming. So, with great pleasure, I announce the lastest membership update for the site! Our membership numbers are now up to 1691!

Updated 28, May 2001

Well, after 2 months delay, the members are updated. The new membership tally coming in at 1606. New membership entires are much less than they have been in previous months, possibly due to the loss of the dradel site, and the shutdown of membership forms due to chronic problems plaguing the site from being transfered between platform types. This problem not being assisted much by the confuscated schedules that both I (Joe McKenzie), and Hobbes have to deal with. So, till all the floating bugs are fixed, we will continue the never ending work of webmasters.

Updated 14, March 2001

Just a quick note: Member Info Change page and the Sign-Up page are now working again ^_^ ...      -- Hobbes

10, March 2001

The page has been updated once again, horribly late and with much smaller turn out than all previous updates. The main causes of such being the loss of the www.dradel.co.uk/RFFC/ site, and with the mirror being incapable of sending out emails to allow for new membership sign-ups and information corrections.

This problem was thought solved when the other webmaster, Hob Goblin purchased with his own finances a new hosting account and a final domain for the RFFC, http://www.rffc.org. However, with a switch from a UNIX based server to a WINDOWS NT based server has lead to complications with the internal workings of the RFFC scripts which make many of the functions of the page work. While most were easily remedied, the same SENDMAIL glitch was found. At current, Hob Goblin, owner of the domain has been so busy that information pertaining to the repair and restoration of these opeartions has not been transfered. So, for the time being, the Member Info Changes and Sign-Ups will be taken off-line until the missing information is found and the page is restored to 100% operating condition.

Another reminder to those who have and will be in the future using the membership updates system, you MUST MUST MUST reply to the message or the changes will be THROWN AWAY. Just trying to make sure this point goes home.

In other news, a new fanfic has been added to the features section, Tenchi Muyo Marriages.

20, December, 2000

Well, another term is over for classes and now all these applications came flooding in! Good Grief! Well, hopefully everything is up to date now. I know between this update in the last some things did happen, the original No Need for a Fan Club fic was canned at the request of the original compiler, and for a brief time, our President Smaug has returned. The Ryoko Purity test is still in development. If you'd like to submit questions, email them to rffc-updates@rcbooks.org, and I will add them to the compiling list.

In more joyful news, the club's membership has swollen by another several hundred! Last time, we were at 1286 members, now with the newest additions, our membership has jumped up to 1501! In not too long with the current rate of growth, the RFFC will spill over the 2000 member mark, making it one of the biggest Tenchi Muyo Character Fan Clubs on the web, bigger than the AFC, the KOME, the TTTG, and even the #SAS# (Who no longer counts members anymore, so no one can be totally sure what their member numbers are.)

26, October, 2000

Whew! That's a lotta updating! Sorry for the delay folks, but after I got back from my trip and repaired the things that needed fixing for the RFFC I went into a 3 month trance of work to bring my own webpage back up to date. Now that that is done and this horribly late update is complete, I will be busy doing my penance to our Goddess Ryoko for my tardiness. At this moment, our blessed goddess has 1286 followers! Blessed be Ryoko! I've also decided as penance, that I will develop a new piece of Ryoko fun for the site. Ever wondered how pure a Ryoko Acolyte you are? We, wonder no more! In the next update, the new Ryoko Purity Test will be available for all to test their Ryoko Faith! I hope everyone has fun on this holloween, Ja!

22 August, 2000

SPECIAL NOTICE FOR RFFC MEMBERS: This is a special notice to current members of the RFFC and applicants that applied after the date of the last page update. Our Valiant President, the Majestic Dragon Smaug has been called away from his duties by the cold calls of the State of Pennsylvania. Please read his message that was posted to the ryokoforever mailing list:

"I regret to inform you that I will be unable to preform my duties from now until December. I cannot allow the club to suffer while I drag through a animeless, almost computerless existance between now and that date which the State of Pennsylvania once more allows me the use of my computer and TV.

Until that date arrives that I can activly resume my office as CB, I leave you in the hands of the VB, Lord Tenchi. I must ask that all problems be addressed to him until such time as I can again resume the apron and gloves.

I am sorry to drag you through this, but I feel that LTM has proved able in his management of the list and I picked him for VCB as a fail-safe should something occure that would remove me from the internet, as has occured.

I admit, my preformance as CB has not been as sterling as I might have wished, and many things should have been updated that were not, things were left undone by persons who during the election swore they stood by me thick and thin, persons who then have done little to aid me. I would like to thank those who did help, however. Bob of course for his invaluble advice, a veritable Merlin of Ryoko, John-Ohki for working on updating the membership page at the drop of a hat, even though we didn't quite make it through all the new members, McKenzie-san, for providing webspace, nameing himself chief webmaster and then, as far as I can tell, ceaseing to exist. LTM of course, who has been running the e-group more or less by himself as I have been struggleing with some personal difficulties and an overwhelming landslide of new members, some of whom should have been put on the list, but were not, as my email box exploded. I am, however, at fault for this, and many other things that are too numerous to be named here. So, if any are to blame for this slide in our leadership, look to me and not to those who failed with me, for, at the end of the day, it is my name that had the responsiblity tied to it.

I may, possibly, be reachable, (I don not promise, for no mortal may know his fate in advance) that I may be avalible from time to time at my old email address (I'm getting a new one since someone signed me up for every hentai list in existance.) since it is a hotmail account and I can reach it from a library computer. I wish you all well, and hope that when we meet again in December it will be a happier event. I hope to be a better dragon by then, and wish you all a Happy Holidays in advance.

-Smaug (Flies off into the sunset.)"

Until the time of his return, the Vice-Chief Bottle Washer, Lord Tenchi Masaki, is in charge. You can find his e-mail in the contact us section. All applicants that applied between the last update, and now must reapply for their applications to be processed.

<><><><><><><><><><>

Membership applications have been reopened since July 1st and the site has been literally flooded with applications for new members! After a month long vacation, I, the webmastering cabbit, Chi-Ohki! Have returned and completed your applications, bringing the new membership ranking of the RFFC from 602 members to a staggering 1096! To see all the new members, go the members section, all new members will be tagged with a small animated gif saying "New". A new member's information update system is currently in the works and should be available for use by members by the next update.

01 June, 2000

Well, folks, Bob has stepped down as CB, and you have chosen I, The Dragon Smaug, to be the new CB.  It will be hard to fill Bob's apron and rubber gloves, but I'll try.   It's also been a while since the news page has been updated, so here I am on the soap box proclaiming the latest club news.  We've moved, obviously, to our new temporary location, www.8op.com/rffc/  and, if you want to know why it took so long, go to the features section to The Famous on to Pathway Double Trouble.  It was definitely a comedy of errors.  We are in the process of getting all the scripts, pages and files updated and running.  We may, (gasp), even get the member signup script and the chat room script together again!

As the new CB, of course, things will be done a little differently.  I have appointed a staff, who may or may not do anything, since we don't really have anything for anyone to do, aside from me and the new Chief Webmaster.  Of course I suppose Chief Advisor and VP are self explained titles.   If, for any reason, I am incapable of carrying out my tasks as CB, then LTM, our VCB will have to take charge.  And if we have a question, we draw on the wisdom of Bob, who didst run the show by himself for many a year.  Anything beyond that we haven't quite defined yet.  We may appoint a treasurer, although the club has no money, but supposing we did, then we would need one.  As my grandfather, Ancalagoth the Black, used to say, "It's best to be prepared!"  (Although he was talking about those rascally heroes...)

So welcome to the new RFFC!

11 October, 1999
At last, the membership application page is open again. It appears to work when I use it, although naturally it's bound to break as soon as someone actually tries to sign up -- well, you know who to complain to.

Applicants who have been waiting for their applications to be processed since around the time the Ark sailed forth can be assured that they'll be done this week. As Mihoshi would say, "I mean it, I'm really serious now."

Your CB is now well-established in his new abode. I expect to be able to move the rest of the RFFC web site to its new location within the next month.

The ryokoforever mailing list is also expected to move soon. The new list (using Majordomo -- not very flashy, but it works) has been created and is only waiting to be properly configured before it gets used. The existing mailing list will cease to be around the end of this year; that's when Teleport think they're going to start charging me for it. Wrong, boyos.

7 October, 1999
"Time flies by real fast," as the song didn't say. Since the October 1 deadline went by without any letup in my extracurricular activities (read: day job and all those other boring things that get in the way of life), I've had to postpone the re-opening of the membership application page until the 11th. *sigh* Would have been nice to have updated the web site a little earlier, though...

25 August, 1999
The CB's office is open again after a longer than expected closure (caused by a mix-up in the phone service - so it goes). Anyway, good to be back, even though the office had to stay closed through Ryoko's very important birthday. The celebratory good wishes are currently being compiled and will be presented on the RFFC web site as soon as they're ready.

While on the subject of birthdays, Sasami's birthday has been added to the Calendar (in the Features section), and I've changed the comment for Aeka's following suggestions that the old comment looked hypocritical, even though it was meant to be taken in jest.

8 August, 1999
The Playing Cards page in the Gallery has been updated and now has 3 detailed sets of cards.

As noted on the front page, the CB's office is now closed and will remain so until 19 August. This is due to unavoidable business travel, a rare event in my line of work (this is the first trip I've had to go on for nearly 20 years) but it does happen occasionally.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to clear the backlog of membership applications yet. It will be high on the list of priorities once I return. Thanks for being patient.

28 July, 1999
A reminder that Ryoko's Official Birthday (she said so herself) will be on August 23. She'll be 5,000 and something, but still looks 17. RFFC members please note: Your CB will be too busy to organise any kind of celebration, but if any members fancy giving it a try, please go ahead.

If you've been to the Sign-up Page, you'll have noticed that it's currently closed and will remain so until October. There are two reasons for this. The main one is the simple fact that due to a combination of events, I'm too busy to think right now and can't keep up with the inflow of membership applications. The second is that I want to re-organise the RFFC a little, and make it somewhat harder to get into - after all, it is meant to be a Ryoko fan club, not merely a collection of Tenchi Muyo fans who happen to agree that she's quite cool.

Those same circumstances will also mean that, in all likelihood, I'll be incommunicado for the second and third weeks in August, and won't be able to moderate the ryokoforever mailing list during that time. The mailing list will probably be rather quiet during that period.

The ryokoforever mailing list guidelines have been updated. I haven't changed the guidelines as such, just added some clarification and made explicit a point that was being enforced but wasn't previously listed.

11 June, 1999
As the first step towards moving the RFFC web site to its intended new home at bobtmigo.com, a new page dedicated to the roles Ai Orikasa has played in other anime is up at the new site. You can get to it through the Features page.

Also, following comments on the ryokoforever mailing list, I've changed the comments on the main page slightly, to (hopefully) make it more clear that the comments are in jest and that the RFFC is not intended to be Aeka- (or anyone else-) hostile. After all, your bottlewasher is proud to be an honorary member of the Aeka Fan Club.

10 June, 1999
Continuing the saga of Ryoko's Room, a little more research reveals that the area is also seen in OAV episode 12. Hopefully this will be the final update for that page.

9 June, 1999
Just goes to show that sometimes you can be completely wrong about something. While watching Hello Baby, at one point my eyes bugged out because, right there before my eyes, was a clear image of Ryoko's bedroom, a room that I'd previously thought had never been animated. So, the Ryoko's Room page in the Features section has been completely revised, since most of the old theories about that room are now shot to pieces.

1 June, 1999
Well, it finally happened - the backlog is cleared, the software rewritten, the bottles washed, the email flushed. In the meantime, we have 102 new members (whoof). Please welcome {+Ichiban+} (501), Lazrahm! (502), Hellfire (503), Chim-chim (504), Ryoko's Brother (505), Rasputin (506), Dark Icon (507), (508), Gandalf (509), Black Rose (510), Amanda (511), Mosquito (512), Panther (513), El Toddo (514), Nuclear boy (515), Swat (516), Dan (517), Defraggle (518), Avatar (519), Harley (520), Htown (521), Greg Cortez (522), xYz (523), Shinji81 (524), Shadow-Dragon (525), Jyuu (526), Inju Mamoru (527), ZodiacBrave (528), Neo PinkBunny (529), Kenshin K. Good grief, I had to add two additional members pages to cope with them!

Now that that's done, perhaps the RFFC can get on with some serious business again.

7 April, 1999
Due to some unpleasantness to which I am not privy, one of our longest-standing and respected members has dropped out of the club, and requested that all his contributions and references to him be removed. I have complied, with regret. The RFFC web site and the RFFC itself are both significantly smaller as a result; in particular, for the time being the chat room link has gone. I don't know what happened but I wish it hadn't.

The Membership Application form stopped working recently. It's now been fixed. The problem apparently was due to a change in server software at my ISP. Of course, I was the last to hear about it...

The Ryoko Ring and Tenchi Ring links on the main page have been updated.

29 March, 1999
Added scans of 8 pages from the April issue of "Looker" magazine about the forthcoming TMIL2 movie. Some of them are pretty worrying... Go to the Features page to find them. Also added Kolat Ray's (#285) web site to the members listing.

24 March, 1999
Well, I really did not expect to be totally snowed under with work (the day job, that is, not the RFFC) for 3 weeks but that's pretty much what happened. My apologies to everyone who has been waiting for me to pull my finger out and actually Do Something in that time. At least I've managed to get the extra buttons up for the member ICQ and location listings in place. Good grief, they even work!

The ryokoforever mailing list is now running semi-moderated at all times. This means that most subscribers will find that their messages will take longer to get through to the list (after all, I have to sleep, eat and stuff and can't moderate the list all the time) and some messages will be rejected. On the plus side, things seem to be running smoothly now so I hope that this will work out.

Meanwhile, we have 25 new members. Please welcome Dan (476), Turnpike Master (477), Mizuno Girl (478), Jbud 18 mko (479), Lord Nobeuki (480), Ryoko-chan (481), Cyber-Klagg (482), Alexander (483), Ace666 (484), Ryoko 99 (485), Dave Davenport (486), Tenkodohno (487), ACabbit (488), Mayhem (489), Arch Angel (490), Jess (491), Jilly (492), Ryho-Ohki (493), Uma (494), Airyn Goldscale (495), Ryokiyoni (496), Parrallax (497), Hephestuss (498), Lina Greywers (499), and Nelson (500).

Also, it would appear that Sayoko (member 86) has returned from her involuntary sojourn in the dreaded netherworld of computer failure. Welcome back!

Added a note by Stefan Scrivener about Yosho's name to the Names in Kanji page.

1 March, 1999
I've started adding ICQ numbers and general geographic locations to the members listing. If you want to add yours, just email me. In the next few days I'll add a search feature to extract this information easily and also add fields to the membership form for them.

Despite the fact that there's only one photo on the web site, and that's of Petrea Burchard, I'm starting to get membership applications from fans of Japanese star Ryoko Hirosue. I'd have thought that the number of drawings and anime captures would have been enough to give the game away. Anyway, as you may have noticed I've added a little message to the contrary to the front page. But I confess to being curious as to what her singing (or whatever she does) is like... just not quite curious enough to splash out on a CD, yet.

Latest additions: Two new WinAmp skins by Seion - one of Ryoko, one of Ai Orikasa - in the Features/Skins section. In the Fan Art gallery, new drawings by Katsuro, Ryoko, Dustin Taylor, Neftlite and Jason Kirckof. In the Banners gallery, a new button and banner by Hob Goblin.

Added Orikasa Ai to the Names in Kanji page. I'm working on a page for her, but can't make any promises as to when it'll be ready - it involves a lot of background work.

No shortage of new members. This time we have 18 new ones to welcome: Sovereign (458), AAsuka02 (459), "Otaku-king" of Tennessee (460), Ace Conners (461), Joe (462), Angel (463), Ryo-Luv (464), Speed (465), DarkLord (466), Chris R. (467), twin-ko (468), Pineman (469), Washu234 (470), Andy (471), Codeman99 (472), Rollee (473), Gotenks (474), and Jesusjon (475).

17 February, 1999
21 new members. Please welcome Scorpion (437), Shura-chan (438), Ghani-chan (439), Dogg Child (440), Sailor Moon (441), Jsal66 (442), Lord Styphon (443), Ender777 (444), Yabsnryoko4evr (445), Lord Tokimi (446), Azmodean (447), Slappy-san (448), Seasidec (449), Krillin (450), Ryoko (451), Outlander (452), Ryoko39655 (453), Kenji-san (454), Kalrn (455), Kuma (456), and Hooligan Boy (457).

Limbo has been flushed but has acquired 6 new victims: Ryoko2 (Sarah Love, #121), Ryoko POWER!!! (Jason Schafer, #177), Sasami Vegeta (Serena Arnold, #255), Ryoko Valentine (#264), Dan Thi (#309), and Harleyquinn (Esther, #352). If you are reading this, please contact me as soon as possible to avoid lapse of membership.

14 February, 1999
Added Ryoko's Room to the Features section. Also added a new image by Friend, and updated his existing fan arts.

The inline images in the Playing Cards section weren't working on some browsers. This is now fixed.

My ongoing apologies to everyone who's sent me stuff to add to the RFFC web site. I have a large backlog, and very little time to work on it right now. I'll sort it out as soon as I can, in the meantime, please be patient.

9 February, 1999
Updated the Ryoko Ring fragment on the Index page, to reflect the ring's new ownership - it's now being run by Joseph (Chi-Ohki) McKenzie. My thanks to Kats for keeping the ring going all this time.

8 February, 1999
Added scans of 6 pages of articles about Tenchi Muyo! in Love 2 from 4 Japanese magazines to the Features page.

7 February, 1999

6 February, 1999
Added URL for Babsy (Jeni Dean)'s "Ryoko's Dimension" web site.

31 January, 1999
Added Jason Kirckof's very appropriate "Next!" drawing to the "Shin RFF: No Need for a Fanclub" page in the Features section. Reformatted the fic into HTML since it's tricky to insert inlines into plain text. Added a new banner by Prince Tetsuo to the Banners Gallery. Added NeoBahamut's new web site, "Fanart Gallery", to the members listing (#18).

30 January, 1999
Added Kathleen Faulconer's "True Love" web site to the Members listing.

Apparently WebTV users could not get into the members pages. I've changed the CGI scripts to let them in. However, I'm not happy at having to have made this change, and think WebTV needs to get its act together and bring its browser up to date.

27 January, 1999
18 new members. Please welcome M@X, Dan Lovell, Janne, Ydoc, Katlyn, Pierro, Yakage, CyberGIG, Talon, Lizharuka, X-halo, Sanowench, Nobuyuki, Sanjiyan, Jared, Andy, Phantomstranger, and Rick

17 January, 1999
"Only" 27 new members today. What's going on here?! Please welcome members 366 through 392: Washu, El Queso, Ren, Mattman, Hoss, Viruz, Tenchi14, Miho-Kiyo, Haplo, Faust, QQ.Sharie, Tenchi, TimmyX, KenOhki, Bishop, ReN, Ghost, Phoenix Knight, MoodMaker, Kathleen, Zion, Markus, Mic Spectre, Fox, Akuteki, Cyan Akuma, and BigBadSeth.

15 January, 1999
Is it really 5 days since the last update? My goodness... Anyway, I've been promising to construct a links page for ages, but I'm too lazy. I polled members for suggestions, but didn't get many back (but many thanks to those few who responded). So instead of making a Links page, I've just added a button that searches the members directory for URLs and returns a pageful of them. It's definitely easier than ploughing through the members listing.

10 January, 1999
While hunting down the video capture for one of Ash's new cels, I found another of my own. It's now in the Cels gallery.

Runt the Dwarf has submitted four very nice new RFFC banners, including a bevelled button. They're in the Banners page in the Gallery.

Added a couple of dinky glove puppets to the Chat page. It needed a little decoration.

9 January, 1999
One new member. Please welcome wil78.

Some serious changes. The Banners page has been moved to the Image Gallery since I don't really think it's needed on the main page.

Ash has submitted 3 new cel scans for the Gallery/Cels page, while the Fan Art gallery also contains a new item from Shinji Masaki.

8 January, 1999
Twelve new members. Please welcome Zeriume Hyo, The Duke of Dispersion, Dion Berry, Solution, Robespierre, Ryoko (yet another one), CabbitPro, Red, Ryoko' s Child, Jenn, Ryoko Alana, and Abrelle.

Bob-Ohki (member 190) has slipped over the edge and fallen into Limbo. If you want your carrots, Bob-Ohki, transform quick and get an email to me by February 14!

Meanwhile, at the other end, 6 members have slipped over the edge of Limbo and into the Slough of Despond, where ex-members who forgot to tell me about their change of email address wail in torment. They are: Klecko73 [#29], Reiko Shirinai (Emily Renee Thacker) [#83], Raini [#128], Scott R. [#185], Ryo (Meghan) [#246], and Lunkwill (Christoffer Årstrand) [#256]. Folks, you can still restore your memberships if you get an email to me!

7 January, 1999
Added requested images for Friend and Big Al the Viking to the members pages. Also added some more detailed information to the mailing list page.

6 January, 1999
Added an image and web site URL to Cosmic Lord's membership entry.

5 January, 1999
Just when you thought it was safe to go into the manga shop, I've added three more scans from volume 9 of the Tenchi manga. These include a shot of Ryoko departing with her new - or rather old - flame, and the reactions of Tenchi, Aeka, Washu and Sasami; and a squishy reunion scene showing that Aeka doesn't always explode when Ryoko and Tenchi have a hug.

At the request of member Runt the Dwarf, there's now an inline image near his entry in the membership roll. I'm open to requests for specific images to go in there to spruce up the pages; if you have an image of Ryoko that you particularly like and would like to have it next to your entry, speak up. Space is limited so if neighbouring members ask for different images, it'll be first come gets the image.

4 January, 1999
Maybe you've noticed the new image on the main page. With the arrival of volume 9 of the Tenchi Muyo manga - which contains some interesting developments for Ryoko fans - I've added some scans from it to the Manga gallery. Also added Ebara to the Names in Kanji page (Ebara being a very important character in that volume).

3 January, 1999
On the Features page, a new version of the WinAmp skin from Seion and a much-needed Netscape customisation from Happosai.

New scans from Cosmic Lord (Dustin Taylor): his own drawing of Ryoko in the Fan Art gallery, and a scan of Minagi from the Viz graphic novels in the Manga gallery.

Member #130, Tsukino Usagi (Ann) has dropped into Limbo due to bounced emails.

31 December, 1998
The new mailing list is up, and the old lists - ryokoforever-l, ryokoforever-l-digest, and ryokochat-l - are down. Everyone who was subscribed to any of these has been automatically subscribed to the new list.

29 December, 1998
Member Sumu (Shannon) has just fallen into Limbo. Please contact me if you're reading this and want to retain your membership. Meanwhile, Limbo is due for a purge at the end of the year, which is only 49 hours away at the time of this writing.

25 December, 1998
Since there's no single politically correct way to greet everyone at this time of year, I'll just go Pagan and say: Happy Yuletide to all our members, ho-ho-ho! cough cough hack

More new members than I can count, even when I take my socks off. Please welcome Fung, Poor Boy, Blondie, Prince Tetsuo, Tenchi-San of the clan Masaki, Flame, Robert, Ryoko Masaki, Bakerstin, Anders, DarkShiningKnight, Sailor Starry Night, StormLord, BGG79, Eagle_eyes, Jeff Stetekluh, Dr. Crazy, Ryokoluvva, Ax Bloodmonath, Zorba the Hutt, Nikita, Lady Karia, Big Al the Viking, Amaya, Tara, and Harleyquinn.

23 December, 1998
If Hyo Won Kim is reading this, please email me. Your membership application could not be processed.

Added this year's greetings cards to the main page, and two new items by Lil' Nako to the Fan Art section of the Gallery.

Kagome has clambered desperately out of Limbo and has rejoined us at a new email address and URL. Welcome back!

Meanwhile, for those of you who have submitted membership applications in the last week or two, please be patient. I will get around to dealing with them by Christmas. Promise!

21 December, 1998
The Anime Web Turnpike listed a lot of web sites selling anime goodies for Christmas, including a new deck of Tenchi Muyo playing cards. There's a pile of scans from that deck in the Playing Cards section of the Gallery.

19 December, 1998
Sayoko has had to drop out due to computer problems. No telling when or if she'll be back, I hope it'll be soon.

Meanwhile, Kagome (Giulia Fancelli) has fallen into Limbo. A shame, because his web site had some promise.

Added a new feature to the member search engine: it'll now, at the user's option, return either a summary list of links to members, or the full member entries directly.

18 December, 1998
See left! Scanned from the first Tenchi Muyo hardcover artbook, with a little retouching.

Work is in progress for switching the RFFC mailing lists to Lyris. The new list (there will be only one) will probably be up on Christmas day, the old lists are expected to Cease To Be when the new year is chimed in. I'm doing the best I can to make sure the changeover is painless for the members (believe me, I wouldn't do this changeover at all if I had any say in it).

14 December, 1998
Fourteen new members (whew): Babsy, Mesarim, Claw, Dessi, Shadow, Platinum Dragon, ryoko71, Oryin, T0Mb, MarvelBoy, Hiroko, Mewtwo, Princess Serenity, and kenjichan. Welcome, all!

Hope you like Friend's seasonal contribution to the main page.

Some members have names that require European or other non-ASCII characters, which may not have been correctly represented. I'm slowing weeding out the errors. If you find that your name doesn't look right on the Members Page (or anywhere else on the site), don't hesitate to contact me.

10 December, 1998
Corrections to the latest fanfic reviews column, in particular that Ryoko's Gems is not going to have any lemon content.

Two more members have fallen into Limbo, Lunkwill (Christoffer Årstrand) and Scott R.

9 December, 1998
Updated the Limbo section of the Members page. It now includes Klecko73, Reiko Shirinai (Emily Renee Thacker), Raini, Ryo (Meghan). Please contact me if you're on the list, still have email of one sort or another, and still interested in the RFFC.

Patrick "Seion" Stewart has sent an updated version of the Ryoko WinAmp skin. It's in the Features section.

Added Minagi to the Names in Kanji page (Features section).

Oh, and I deleted my Pretty Samy image directory to make more room for Ryoko. Honestly, the sacrifices I make for this club...

7 December, 1998
A pile of new members since last time. Please welcome Al-Adao, Ayeka's Main Squeez (who let him in?), Nemu, ~sarah, The Jepster, Luke, Kaze, Cris, lemnear, Noel H., funner, PaiSennaDarthan, Dan, SinnDesireLust, Chan, and Kaede.

Added goodies: Friend (aka Björn Brändewall) is getting ready for Christmas a little early. Take a look at his latest watercolor on the Fan Art page of the Gallery. A Ryoko WinAmp skin has been added to the Features Page, courtesy of Patrick "Seion" Stewart.

The newly-created Honored Member(s) page now exists, and for now the late Sancar Kavvas is its only occupant. The page is rather spartan and in my opinion not yet a fitting tribute; it needs smartening up. Any ideas from members would be welcome.

28 November, 1998
The latest Newsletter went out earlier this morning. All current members should have received a copy. If you don't, please email me as soon as possible.

There's a whole lotta reworking going on. With complaints that the members page was becoming unwieldy, due to there being close on 300 members these days, I've restructured the membership page into several smaller pages. Because this makes finding things a little more difficult, I've added a couple of simple search engines so you can find yourself if you get lost. Please try 'em out and send me any feedback.

While doing this, I've assigned membership numbers to everyone. The only significance of these numbers is that they're unique for each member (they'll never change and won't be re-used) and they're assigned in the order in which the membership applications arrived (at least, according to my records). Given that we have several Ryokos, Tenchis and other characters in the membership roll, the numbers could be useful to resolve ambiguities... and maybe prevent another case of my mis-attributing a piece of fan art. Owch, that hurt.

27 November, 1998
Added a few more entries to the Names in Kanji page and added an index to make it slightly easier to find particular characters. One day this page will be finished (maybe).

Added a couple of cels to the Cel gallery. I'm slowly tracking down the frames in which each cel is being used, but it's a time-consuming process so it's not happening quickly.

Another flushing of Limbo finds Yosho <yoshoM@aol.com> taking the plunge.

24 November, 1998
Added another of Friend's pictures to the Fan Art gallery. This one had me laughing so hard that I just had to get it on-line quickly.

Member Tanis Pallagi has been lost from the club. Precisely what happened is a mystery, since we were in regular communication and suddenly the email account ceased to function without warning only a few hours after exchanging messages. It's doubly unfortunate because Tanis would have been doing Ryoko's Christmas card. Ah well, time to farm out some new tasks...

Member Runt the Dwarf discovered my on-line Pretty Samy image collection and tried to use it as blackmail material.

Poor fool.

Had he asked, any long-standing RFFC member could have told him that I'm a rabid, aggressive, and unapologetic fan of the Pretty Samy TV series (but not the dreadful OAVs), which I consider to be one of the greatest shows ever to have come out of AIC. As I explained before letting Ramia and Pixy Misa loose on him, Ryoko is without question my favourite character of all time - not merely in anime - by a large margin, but that doesn't mean that Tenchi Muyo is my favourite anime series.

It isn't.

23 November, 1998
Membership tribulations...

Limbo has been flushed out again, and the following members appear to have fallen into the Slough of Despond because I can't get anything from their email accounts: Richu-san <rchilson@bellsouth.calltech.com> (Rich Chilson), Animis <shfh23c@prodigy.com> (Kelly Taylor); ryoko <ryoko1224@aol.com> (Richu-san); and Angei <lil washu7@at aol.com> (Angela).

I've had several membership requests from AOL members with spaces in their email addresses. Every one has caused problems. It's unfortunate that AOL doesn't reject email addresses like that, or at least put up a warning when an address like that is chosen: "Warning, your email address would give the Internet indigestion. Would you like to remove the spaces?"

There has been a fresh batch of new members. Unfortunately a couple couldn't be processed due to email address problems. These were jairshino king [shinobi] and RsZz. If you're out there, please send me an email to confirm your email address.

Well, at least there have been 5 real new members. There would have been 8 but one person appears to have put in 3 separate applications from 3 separate addresses, as if I wasn't confused enough already, and so I have to sort out what's going on. Anyway, please welcome Ryan Anderson, some person fronting for The Infinite Entity (a.k.a. Frank), Tenchi1182, Nagi3:16 (the Book of Nagi? Now I'm afraid), and TwigFace.

19 November, 1998
Apparently I put the wrong email address under Ryoko9's picture in the Fan Art gallery. Sorry folks - and in particular, humble apologies to Ryoko9. I just seem to be having one of those weeks.

18 November, 1998
After some strongly negative responses to one of the new images on the FanFic page, I've decided to pull the image. My thanks to everyone who emailed me about it, in particular because it helped me to gauge how other members feel about such things and will make it easier for me to make judgement calls in the future. For the record the verdict was that although the picture was well drawn, there are some subjects that we don't really want to consider in the RFFC and that particular picture - a rather explicit picture of Ryoko apparently about to commit hara kiri - simply was not appropriate.

On a better note, the URL for R & C books (a fanfic site) has been added to Chi-Ohki's entry at the end of the Members page.

17 November, 1998
Am I getting behind or what? Never mind... Three new images added to the Fan Art gallery, one of which I have severe doubts about but I'll let the members judge for now. And seven new members. Please welcome Kolat Ray, Ryo-Oki, Zhara, Lestat de Lioncourt, Chris The Imp, Chi-Ohki, and Joker.

I made a colossal blunder while making Oryo-san's page, and used the composite video connection instead of the S-video connection, so the video captures aren't half as sharp as they should be. Unfortunately there isn't a hope in heck of my finding the time to re-capture them. So it goes.

5 November, 1998
Added a new image to the Fan Art section of the Gallery.

3 November, 1998
Six new members. Please welcome Kagato1, Armitage, RyokoOAV, The Novocastrian Samurai, Ishtar, and Shinji Masaki.

The mailing lists have been re-organised slightly to encourage more people to use ryokochat-l and try to shift general discussions (as opposed to information and club business) out of ryokoforever-l. The form on the Mailing List page has been updated accordinly. Maybe this time it'll work...

News items prior to November, 1998 have been taken off-line. Please email me if you want copies.
